This is what I've felt like yelling the last week.
DD19mths seems to be feeding more than ever, like every 5 minutes. It's driving me nuts!
It maybe because I've been sick the lat couple of days and I just want to rest and conserve my energy, and maybe she is trying to have lots of boob to get antibodies becase this flu has been through the whole family except her. BUT I just don't know what to do.
I've tried offering her heaps of stuff to eat but she's not really interested apart from a nibble or two.
AND it's all night long too I feel so sleep deprived atm.
I know it's just temporary but AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I jsut needed to get it out.

have you tried putting aloe vera on your nipples? I used to do that on days when I just really needed a little break from the boobing.

sounds like it could also be a growth spurt, but yeah, she's probably stocking up on her immune system. are you getting enough water/ nutrition?

Thanks guys. MF I think i could probably use some kind of suppliment, I'm not really sure what though. I used to take spirulina...anyone got any suggestions.
Just had a horrible night. DS woke up three times. Fell out of his bed once! And dd fed every hour. I feel more tired han before I went to bed.
Meanwhile, beside me DP had a lovely sleep

good that he slept well now he can take the kids off your hands and let you have a rest.

could be that your milk is getting insufficient. also likely that she's having a growth spurt. I think it's quite common at that age to suddenly have a feeding frenzy. I think increasing your protein and iron can't hurt, especially if you think you're not getting enough. and loads of dark green leafy veg. and make sure you drink enough water.

Yep, my ds1 had a boobing frenzy at approximately the same age. I think it's a need for more milk coinciding with more awareness about being able to control when they get it. I would get too furious sleeping next to someone who was sleeping all through it. Is there any where else he can sleep so him sleeping is not in your face?

What do you mean by insufficient milk, MF? I've never heard of it!

I wish there was somewhere else dp could sleep. Says he didn't hear a thing! And he elbowed me in the head in his sleep...and woke me with his snoring.

sure it can happen. if mama isn't getting adequate nutrition/ water, then the milk can be unsatisfying for the kid. I've seen several times babies that are feeding constantly, and once you improve the mum's diet, the milk gets better and the kids need to feed less.
of course, that's only one possible factor. it's just an easy one to take care of/ rule out, and it can't be a bad thing to get better nutrition (for anyone).
there's also emotional stuff, growth spurts, developmental milestones... all that jazz that can contribute to extreme frequent feeding. in any case, it's often hard on the mama.

the other option is that you sleep elsewhere...

oh aote, she's a real nipple tweeker at the moment. My boobs are almost as sore from pinching as from feeding!

IME, being topless doesn't make much difference. actually, I think dd twiddled worse when I'm topless. heck, she still cops a feel if I'm topless. sigh.
but just because that was my experience doesn't mean topless wont work for you, ariad. I think you should try it

I think if you were topless from day one it might be different but once i was topless at a beach ith dd1 ( it was very secluded) and she was even more interested...you could see her thinking...WOW both boobs out at the same time!!!
But for you MF I'll try topless

I was topless a lot when dd was little (well, I was naked a lot, coz we were at rainbow gatherings half the time), and she still had an obsession with boobs.

Ahhhh, i hear you on the Nipple Tweaking. I thought it was sweet her doing it when younger. Now, if she sits with me her 2 fingers are in her mouth ( sucks them ) and then hand down my top.
