*bump* So I can be excited and ramble about our calf due this month.

We've not milked Lucy for around 6 weeks now. Used the last of the frozen milk today - have also been buying some local bio-dynamic milk (not raw, but not homogenised) to supplement the frozen stuff.
Lucy's ligaments are changing, she is wanting a lot of scratches and attention. Her vulva area is bulging a bit. I have to look for mucous and filling udder next. It feels odd to be paying so much attention to the back end of my cow, but I'm learning heaps.
Honey was weaned when Lucy was dried off and she has just thrived. She is very affectionate and calm. She's also really big. We didn't de-horn her, which kinda scares me, but I hope we've made the right choice there.
The calf due should be a wagyu/Jersey (Lucy's a Jersey, AI'ed with wagyu semen). That's a beef breed, so not what I expected (didn't ask, just presumed she'd have a dairy breed bub).
